Brian K. Thomas is an executive operations leader with extensive experience in strategic planning, process improvement, financial administration, people management, and business intelligence.

As COO of Nu-Wave Wireless, Brian was tasked with overseeing the organization’s administrative, financial, human resource, and IT functions while providing strategic support to the CEO. He built the company’s operational processes from the ground up, and over the years the company grew from a single retail store into a multi-site operation with 27 locations in six states.

Earlier in his career, Brian held several positions with international market research firm TNS (formerly Intersearch). Having been promoted through various roles, ranging from call center operations to data programming, he was able to develop the valuable project direction, leadership, and data management skills that facilitated his growth into the “operational jack-of-all-trades” that he is today.

Born and raised in Philadelphia PA, Brian has always valued a sense of community. He’s a block captain in his Fishtown neighborhood and has been nominated for a 2022 Mayor’s Day of Service Recognition Award. Since 2019, he has served as a poll worker, and in 2021 he was formally elected to the office of Judge of Election. He has also fundraised for Fox Chase Cancer Center and Fairmount Park Conservancy as a regular participant in the Philadelphia International Dragonboat Festival.

Brian’s sense of personal fulfillment through civic engagement and volunteerism gradually fostered a determination to transition his career to the nonprofit sector, specifically with an organization focused on building community. An avid reader and knowledge-seeker, he is honored to join PA Humanities’ work in leveraging the humanities for lasting change in our communities.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Temple University and certificates in Business Intelligence and Human Resource Management from Villanova University.
