Silas Chamberlin is a non-profit executive with experience in the fields of economic development, community revitalization, and natural resource conservation. Silas’s book, “On the Trail: A History of American Hiking,” was published by Yale University Press in October 2016. His research and advocacy work have received awards from the American Society for Environmental History, the Association of Environmental Studies & Sciences and the International Trails Symposium. Silas holds a PhD in environmental history from Lehigh University (2014), a MA in history from Lehigh (2008), and a BA from Temple University (2006). 

Silas is currently CEO of Downtown Inc., an organization that is working to drive, enhance, and encourage investment in York, PA’s historic downtown. Previously, Silas was executive director of the Schuylkill River National Heritage Area, a regional advisor in the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources and senior director at the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor.
