Paula Gilbert is Director of Youth Services for the York County Library System. She has served in a variety of capacities in a number of organizations in York that promote education for children.  Currently, she coordinates contracts between the York Library System and the School District of the City of York, a 28-year partner on SLAM (a library aide program), Summer Reading, Migrant Education, Early Literacy, The After School Program, Behavior Specialists, and a variety of other issues. Paula works with partners to provide service to a number of private and charter schools in York.

Paula chaired the PR Committee of the Pennsylvania Library Association and serves as guest lecturer for various groups and classes on “Every Child Ready to Read,” a Public Library Association reading readiness workshop as a division of American Library Association. She is currently Vice-Chair of the PA Forward Steering Committee as well as Chair of PA Forward’s Training Committee.  Paula served as President of the Pennsylvania Library Association in 2013, and as PR Co-Chair for the the York Area Association for the Education of Young Children (YAAEYC) in 2010-12.
